Welcome to the Grundy Center Athletic Department Web Sight.
I am honored to serve in the capacity of the Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach for the Grundy Center Community
School District. Grundy Center has a rich tradition of excellence in all of its activities programs which promote the finest
attributes of student performance in academics, fine arts, athletics and other co-curricular activities.
The Grundy Center athletic department is highly regarded across the state, producing numerous state and conference championships
over the years in a wide range of sports. Grundy Center is considered among the top athletic programs in the state and was
rated the number one small school program in 2005 by the Des Moines Register and consistently ranks in the Register's top
10 small school programs. The Marshalltown Times Republican ranked the Spartans as the number one overall athletic program
in the North Iowa Cedar League Western Division in 2007.
The success of all of Grundy Center's activities can be attributed to many factors including a supportive and enthusiastic
community, dedicated parents, determined and goal-oriented students, and a passionate and motivated coaching staff. Many
of our coaches have attained conference, district, and state coach of year honors and several have garnered national recognition
as well.
For all of our successes, the Grundy Center Community is committed to upgrading and continuing to provide opportunities
for our students to continue the successful tradition of Spartan athletics. In 2007-2008, Grundy Center will be involved
in a joint partnership with the University of Northern Iowa in developing and improving our strength and conditioning program
for all of our athletes on a year around basis. Our facilities continue to be upgraded with renovation to our girl's locker
rooms and plans are underway to install an eight lane all-weather track, ready for use by the spring of 2009.
